The Pineapple Villa is a traditional Sri Lankan mansion dating back to the 1920s which has recently been converted into a boutique hotel by the award-winning Elephant Stables brand, the interiors now incorporating original antique furniture with chic modern additions. The concept of the Pineapple Villa is to offer a taste of ‘Old Ceylon’ with a luxurious twist. It is located about 40 mins from the airport and set amidst a pineapple plantation, hence its name. The property features 2 suites and deluxe room with 4 poster beds. The suites have separate living areas including a large bathroom and open air Jacuzzi, and a private butler service is provided for each room. There is also a large swimming pool, living room with a small art deco bar and alfresco dining area. Visits to rural temples and walks around to the local village which is completely away from the tourist trail would be a USP of this villa. Families are welcome to book the whole villa for extra privacy.
Activities at The Pineapple Villa
Explore the luscious tropical landscapes around the Pineapple Villa. An escorted walk through paddy fields and dreamy hamlets will take you to the Varana Temple with wonderful cave paintings just 3 km away. It’s a perfect example of a Sinhalese forest monastery. The cave temple complex is still inhabited by monks. Starting at the temple, a 1 km long jungle path leads to the summit. At all these places you are almost guaranteed that there will be no other tourists in sight.
