Gal Oya Lodge is a wonderful ten-room wildlife lodge that sits just outisde of Gal Oya National Park. The lodge only opened in 2014; it’s the first good quality option in this untouched part of Sri Lanka. The bungalows are beautifully done and have a luxurious yet eco-friendly feel about them. Think wooden panels, thatched roofs, floor to ceiling glass, outdoor bathrooms and king-size beds. The lodge is home to a pool surrounded by trees, a open airy restaurant and lots of space to rest and unwind. From the lodge it’s possible to explore the area by boat, in a jeep and on foot. Your hosts will also be able to take you to see the local Veddah community if you wish. This is most definitely the best option in Gal Oya.
