Located a short drive from Jaffna’s city centre, Fox Jaffna is a heritage bungalow converted into a chic boutique hotel with a fascinating history. During Sri Lanka’s civil war, this ancestral home was acquired by rebel fighters who added underground bunkers and made it their Treasury. Then the armed forces took over the property when Jaffna was liberated and used it as an office. Once the war was over, the rightful owners reclaimed their bungalow and set out to restore it to its former glory and transform it into a boutique hotel. Interestingly, the owners are art collectors so they have converted the underground bunkers into an art gallery and museum.

The property is spread over 3 acres, with 4 suites and 24 rooms, a swimming pool and excellent restaurant. Once a week they host a cultural night with colourful and exotic dances that embody the vibrant spirit of Jaffna.
