About
Cape Welligama only opened its doors in late 2014; it’s been a long anticipated hotel in Sri Lanka that’s owned and managed by sister property, Tea Trails. Tea Trails is easily one Sri Lanka’s most adored hotels that is synonymous with fine food and fantastic service. We expect the same from Cape Weligama. The hilltop resort is home to a gorgeous collection of freestanding villas and suites; these sit within beautifully landscaped gardens and snuggle up to the crescent shaped cliff edge. Within the gardens you’ll find a stunning moon shaped infinity pool, a family pool, a pool bar, a gym and several restaurant options. There’s no spa because treatments happen within the large spoiling suites. The sandy beaches sit below the cliff, this means it’s a bit of a walk but there a gold buggies that can help if you’re feeling lazy.
Rooms
There are 40 villas and suites in total; these are divided between Cape Weligama Residences, Grand Ocean View Villas, Premiere Ocean View Villas, Ocean View Villas, Family Junior Suites, and Master Suites. The Cape Weligama Residences are 307 square meters and have two bedrooms, and a private pool. The Grand Ocean View Villas are 195 square meters; these are spacious and have a separate living room. The Premiere Ocean View Villas are 176 square meters, so are a little smaller. These, however, have good outdoor space. The Ocean View Villas are still large at 130 square metres, but feel much cosier than the others. Each suite or villa is part of a cluster; this means that 2 or 3 villas have a shared garden and pool area, just in case you want to relax nearer to your accommodation rather than in the main area.
