Day 1
Overnight flight to Sri Lanka.
Day 2
Today upon arrival your private chauffeur guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel near the airport to relax after the journey.
Day 3
After a relaxing first day, today you will drive inland to Kandy, a journey that normally takes 3.5 hours. There is a range of accommodation to choose from here: from the old colonial city centre options, and the stylish boutique properties on the outskirts, to the peaceful tea estate lodges and bungalows overlooking the Knuckles Mountain Range.
Day 4
You will enjoy our unique tour of Kandy city centre and the luminous Royal Botanical Gardens. Kandy is famed for The Temple of the Tooth, its remarkable Buddhist history along with high quality gem stones. Enjoy some time at leisure this afternoon to grab some street food, before visiting The Temple of the Tooth this evening for a traditional puja ceremony. If you are staying in a tea estate you may spend the day enjoying the stunning scenery on a leisurely hike or visiting a tea factory.
Day 5
You will head approximately east today, to Gal Oya National Park. This beautiful park has only recently opened up to tourism with the arrivial of Gal Oya Lodge. The park is home to the island's largest body of water, a haven for wild elephants that can often be seen swimming.
Day 6
There are numerous excursions to choose from at Gal Oya Lodge, such as jeep safaris, visiting the local indigenous Veddha tribal community or a more unique boat safari.
Day 7
From Gal Oya your driver will bring you to the unspoiled east coast for some relaxation mid way through your trip. This journey should take just 2.5hrs. You will stay in Passikudah, a beautiful golden bay famed for its shallow waters. Spend the remainder of your day relaxing.
Day 8 - 10
Enjoy these days completely at leisure.
Day 11
From Passikudah head west to Sigiriya, this should only take 2.5hrs. En route visit the magnificent and ancient city of Polonnaruwa, one of Sri Lanka's UNESCO World Heritage sites. The remainder of your day is at leisure.
Day 12
Enjoy a guided tour of Sigiriya 'Lions Rock' this morning, a ruined ancient capital that sits atop a gigantic rock. Afterwards enjoy an exciting afternoon jeep safari in Minneriya National Park. This area is home to hundreds of wild elephant, arguably the densest population in Asia.
Day 13
Enjoy a visit to a local village today for a delicious traditional Sri Lankan lunch before visiting The Golden Temple of Dambulla, Sri Lanka's most exquisite cave temple.
Day 14
Today your chauffeur guide will transfer you to Colombo for your last day in Sri Lanka. This afternoon take a tour around the capital city, exploring it's fascinating mixture of Dutch, Portuguese and British influences.
Day 15
This morning you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight home, after the most wonderful and unique journey through Sri Lanka.
