Colombo, despite being unprepossessing at first glance, offers visitors an insight into Sri Lanka’s turbulent history, its varied religious communities as well as the modern and cosmopolitan side of the country that you are starting to see today. Our half-day tour of Colombo takes in all the major sites within the city including the area known as ‘Fort’, aptly named, as it was once a Dutch and Portuguese fort. The tour also passes through the frenetic open air Pettah Market and takes in numerous temples and mosques, which scatter the city. If time permits your guide will also take you to Independence Square and Cinnamon Gardens.
