Kaleliya is a sleepy village located 25 kilometres from the Colombo’s international airport, en route to Kandy. The area is full of luscious paddy fields and verdant coconut estates. It provides visitors the perfect opportunity to see how locals live on a daily basis, from making clay pots to toiling bullocks in the fields. There’s been minimal influence from the modern outside world so the area is peaceful and provides the perfect retreat for weary travellers who need to wind down before or after a long flight. The only place to stay in this area is Casa Heliconia, a stylish two-bedroom villa.
